QUICK TIPS FOR VOTERS

  • Check your voter registration status to make sure the Board of Elections has your up to date address.

  • Locate your polling place and note the hours of operation.

  • If you plan to vote at the polls, go early in the day to avoid the last-minute rush.

  • Check to see if you need identification to vote (see Voter ID section).

  • Read all instructions carefully.

  • Take your time.

  • Ask for help if you need it.

Election Day Registation

If you cant register to vote in advance, you can register to vote and vote on Election Day. Nearly 20,000 Marylanders used Same-Day Registration during the early voting period to register to vote for the first time or update their registration in 2016.

Voter Empowerment

The ACLU of Maryland has designed a voter empowerment card to help protect your right to vote.  Keep it handy, and take it with you to the polls on Election Day.

Automatic Voter Registration

We helped pass the Secure and Accessible Registration Act. In October 2018, the state of Maryland will automatically register citizens to vote, when they interact with certain state agencies like the Motor Vechile Administration (MVA).
